Mais ça, bande de chenapans, c'est parce que vous n'avez pas lu le [dossier Batman](https://bd.krinein.com/batman-a-70-ans/) avec assez d'attention. Apparue pour la première fois en 2006 dans *Detective Comics*, elle hérite d'un arc de sept épisodes destiné à faire d'elle un personnage de premier plan, en vue du lancement de son propre titre courant 2011. C'est l'histoire présentée ici sous le titre *Elégie pour une ombre*... Kate Kane est la digne héritière de l'homme chauve-souris : sa maman est morte violemment, son entraînement est irréprochable (assuré par son papa colonel, qui lui sert d'Alfred attentionné), son costume moulant est bourré de gadgets, et son nom rend hommage à feu Bob Kane, créateur de Batman et Robin. Mais là où Bruce Wayne n'a jamais été que soupçonné d'entretenir une relation intime avec son sidekick ou son majordome, Kate clame haut et fort son homosexualité. Oui, Batwoman est lesbienne, et elle vous emmerde. D'ailleurs, elle est également juive, et pour couronner le tout, elle est rousse. Mais ces particularismes revendiqués ne lui sont d'aucune aide dans son combat du jour, contre le clan de malfrats dirigé par une certaine Alice ; bien qu'elle n'entretienne aucun lien avec Jervis Tetch le Chapelier Fou, elle aussi se croit sortie de l’œuvre de Lewis Carroll... ![](https://www.krinein.com/img_articles/small/16529-nouvel-article-1.jpg) *DR.*Sur un scénario de Greg Rucka (auteur de *Gotham Central* pour Batman et de *[La nouvelle Krypton](https://bd.krinein.com/superman-cur-nouvelle-krypton/)* pour Superman), le dessinateur J.H. Williams III (déjà à l’œuvre sur *[L'île du dr Mayhew](https://bd.krinein.com/batman-2007-ile-monsieur-mayhew/)*) se fait manifestement plaisir : mises en page dynamiques et anguleuses, scènes d'action dantesques, et surtout érotisme exacerbé. Le costume de l'héroïne révèle ses formes dans leurs moindres détails, laissant régulièrement deviner ses tétons et sa vulve. Racolage ? Sans doute, mais le lesbianisme de la jeune femme et son attitude martiale rend toute concupiscence dangereuse pour le public masculin, qui se sait condamné à essuyer un "*fuck you*" très *rock'n'roll* en cas de tentative. La violence des évènements et des graphismes est au service d'une histoire simple mais forte, où l'origine de Batwoman est racontée en parallèle de son aventure.
